Breaking Virat Kohli’s record, Babar Azam becomes the fastest batter to reach 10,000 T20 runs

New Delhi: During PSL 2024, Babar Azam, a former captain of Pakistan, got yet another feather to his crown. In the shortest version of the game, Babar became the sixth hitter to score 10,000 runs, and he also became the quickest to do so.

Prior to this, Chris Gayle was leading the scoring with 10,000 T20 runs in 285 innings. In 2017, Universe Boss became the first cricket player in history to score more than 1,000 runs in the format.

But Babar Azam has outperformed cricket greats Jos Buttler, Aaron Finch, David Warner, and Virat Kohli in only 271 innings. In the sixth game of the current Pakistan Super League (PSL) between Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings, Babar set a new world record with only six runs. In the most recent game, he was out on 68 against the Quetta Gladiators, missing out on a huge career milestone. He is also leading the team.

While Chris Gayle needed 285 innings and current third-ranked Virat Kohli needed 299 innings to hit 10,000 runs, Babar Azam reached this mark in 271 innings. Star batsman David Warner of Australia played 303 innings to earn a spot in this exclusive group.
