At the age of 36, Cesc Fabregas, who played for teams like Barcelona, Arsenal, and Chelsea, has declared his retirement from football. On his Twitter account, the Spanish international made the news.

It is with tremendous regret that I must put up my playing boots, Fabregas said in a statement.

“This adorable football club came to me at the ideal moment in my career and won my heart from the first minute.

“Now that we’ve had 20 great years filled with pleasure, sacrifice, and devotion, it’s time to thank you and bid farewell to the beautiful game.

“I enjoyed every second.”

Throughout his playing career, Fabregas won awards at the club and international levels. The 36-year-old has also won the Premier League twice with Chelsea and La Liga with Barcelona in addition to the World Cup with Spain.

He left the Italian club Como in Serie B after one season of a two-year deal. The former Arsenal captain, however, said that he would now assume responsibility as a coach by leading Como’s reserve and junior teams.

Nevertheless, he said, “it’s not all sadness, as I’m about to cross the white line and begin coaching the B and Primavera teams of Como 1907.” “A group and a project about which I am really enthusiastic.

He became the London club’s youngest player after joining Arsenal from Barcelona’s development programme when he made his League Cup debut at the age of 16 years, 177 days in October 2003.

He then rose to the position of captain for Arsenal, but in 2011, a year after helping Spain win the World Cup in South Africa, he departed the club to rejoin Barcelona.

Additionally, he competed for Spain on teams that won the 2008 and 2012 European Championships.

He won the Spanish league championship with Barcelona in 2012–2013, but he left the team to join Chelsea in the Premier League the following year. He helped the Blues win the league championship in 2015 and 2017.

Before joining Como last summer, he played 68 games for French League team Monaco before moving there in 2019.
