“Enforce the Sale of RCB”: The Indian Cricket Board Receives a Startling Appeal from the 12-time Grand Slam Winner

After giving up a record team total in their most recent IPL 2024 match, Royal Challengers Bengaluru seem to be having a terrible season. At the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Monday night, the RCB hosted Sunrisers Hyderabad and lost badly—their sixth loss of the season.

The SRH batsmen, headed by Travis Head, amassed 287/3 in 20 overs on a flat Bengaluru surface, which is the second-highest total in all T20s and the highest team total in IPL history. Not that RCB was too far behind, as Dinesh Karthik’s explosive innings kept them in the game till they ended at 262/7, allowing the visitors to win by 25 runs.

RCB’s prospects of qualifying for the playoffs have significantly decreased as they remain mired at the basement of the 10-team league.

Outraged by the Indian cricket team’s most recent performance, tennis great Mahesh Bhupathi has filed an appeal with the BCCI to compel the team’s existing owners to sell the franchise in order to turn around the team’s declining financial situation.

Bhupathi said on X (previously Twitter): “I think BCCI needs to enforce the Sale of RCB to a New owner who will care to build a sports franchise the way most of the other teams have done so. For the sake of sport, the IPL, the fans, and even the players.”

Even though they have superstars on their squad for every IPL season, RCB has never been able to take home the championship. Though they have advanced to the finals three times, they have never won.

Their lackluster bowling attack has come under fire in the IPL 2024. Two of RCB’s most important players, Mohammed Siraj and Glenn Maxwell, were benched for the match against SRH, while Cameron Green missed his second straight game.

But their awful streak hasn’t ended.

After a five-day hiatus, RCB will rethink their strategy, start again, and resume their campaign.

It’s crucial to take a break and clear your head since this is such a cerebral game. There are moments when you think your head will blow up. During the post-match presentation on Monday, RCB captain Faf du Plessis said, “You have to give full commitment when you get back to the contest.”
