French Open championship is surpassed by Paris Olympic gold for Carlos Alcaraz

Carlos Alcaraz said on Monday that he would choose to win the French Open over an Olympic gold medal in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

Ahead of the Argentina Open in Buenos Aires, where he is the reigning champion, the 20-year-old, who won the US Open in 2022 and Wimbledon in 2023, was questioned about his season objectives.
“If I had to choose one target this year I’d choose the Olympic gold over Roland-Garros,” the Spaniard said.

The Olympic tennis matches will take place at Roland Garros from July 27 to August 4 concurrently with the French Open, which runs from May 20 to June 9.

“I performed well in Australia and I’m in terrific shape. Additionally, I’ve played some excellent tennis on clay courts throughout my preparation,” Alcaraz said.
