Former Indian hitter Uthappa remarks on MS Dhoni, saying, “His mind is staying up to date, but body might give way.”

Former India batsman Robin Uthappa is amazed by Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s longevity and believes that the Chennai Super Kings star’s “mind is staying up to date” and that only his body might put an end to his protracted career in professional cricket.

This IPL season, Dhoni has been in incredible form, driving CSK with his explosive cameos. His most recent cameo came on Friday against Lucknow Super Giants, when he hammered a nine-ball 28.

Uthappa said, “The only thing stopping him is his health,” while speaking on JioCinema. The only thing preventing him from playing any longer will be his level of fitness. He is really enthusiastic about the game, loves it, and wants to keep playing it.

It will be his own body that gives way if anything is going to stop him. The intellect remains current.

After hitting Mohsin Khan for a four and a six, Dhoni clobbered Yash Thakur for yet another maximum. With two more fours to close up the innings, he made 19 off the last over.

Former India pace spearhead Zaheer Khan said, “The roar is getting bigger, better, and louder, and so is MS Dhoni’s presence on the field,” in reference to Dhoni’s accomplishments.

With each inning that he plays, he becomes better and better. It’s incredible how much of an influence he has and how much pressure he puts on the bowlers. It was just amazing.

When CSK was asked to bat first, Ravindra Jadeja responded with a strong, undefeated fifty-seven, followed by sixes from Moeen Ali (30 off 20) and MS Dhoni (28 off 9) that took CSK to a formidable 176 for six.

KL Rahul (82) and Quinton de Kock (54) batted well in response as LSG recovered from consecutive losses to secure their place in the standings with a match-winning combination of 134, the greatest partnership for any wicket at the Ekana Stadium. LSG reached 180 for 2 in 19 overs.

Rahul’s innings was also lauded by Uthappa, who said that it has improved his chances of being selected for the T20 World Cup team.

Completely enjoyable. I like this innings because he played the ball to its value. He played to the merits of the field without attempting to accomplish too much or fabricate shots. He took the lead by example.

“For the last several weeks, I had doubts that he would be included on the World Cup roster. However, if he keeps hitting the way he is now, Uthappa said, he will find a place.

“I think you might see him back among the squad’s front-runners, whether it’s as a reserve opener or a wicketkeeper.”
