IPL 2024: Marcus Stoinis Records, CSK vs. LSG Peak Individual Performance in the IPL Run Chase

After Marcus Stoinis’ undefeated century during the IPL 2024 match between Lucknow Super Giants and Chennai Super Kings on Tuesday (April 23), the player set a record for the greatest individual score in an IPL run chase.

At the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, LSG defeated CSK by chasing the highest goal of 211 runs, thanks in part to a century and a half from Stoinis. In his first IPL century, the Australian all-rounder hit six sixes and thirteen fours.

The LSG player’s innings outshone the undefeated 108 off 60 by CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and also surpassed the record set eleven years ago by former Punjab Kings opener Paul Valthaty in a run chase. The top scores in the IPL run chase are shown below.

With the most successful run chase in IPL history, Buttler eclipsed captain of the chase Virat Kohli’s record for most hundreds. Buttler now has three tons, while Kohli has two hundreds in the chase. Ben Stokes, Buttler’s countryman, has also successfully chased two hundred in the IPL.
