IPL 2024: Mustafizur Rahman Recorded Best-Ever IPL Bowling Performance Against RCB in CSK Debut

Mustafizur Rahman made the most unforgettable possible introduction to the “Anbuden” Chennai supporters today when, in the Chennai Super Kings’ first IPL 2024 encounter against rivals Royal Challengers Bangalore, the Bangladeshi bowler amassed a hefty four-for.

In his debut, the Bangladeshi pacer amassed 4/29 in 4 overs and played a crucial role in turning things around for CSK.

Thanks to one towering RCB captain, Faf du Plessis, Chennai seemed to be guzzling runs left, right, and center.

Du Plessis raced to 35 off only 23 balls, punishing CSK’s bowlers like Deepak Chahar, Tushar Deshpande, and Maheesha Theekshana with several boundaries.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, the captain of CSK, brought Rahman into the attack, and he scored a run for the hosts right away.

With a slower-paced tempter, Rahman removed the explosive du Plessis, luring the captain to swing his bat and nick the toe-end of his bat to fly the ball and give Rachin Ravindra an easy catch at deep backward point.

Mustafizur’s discipline and line in the next over proved to be decisive as Rajat Patidar, trying to clumsily swipe away a length ball, nicks it to the ever-present MS Dhoni behind the stumps for an easy catch.

Because Mustafizur was out of the game for a while, players like new signing Cameron Green and seasoned player Virat Kohli were able to stem the flow and stabilize the RCB innings.

However, as soon as he returned, he attacked once again.

With du Plessis and Rajat Patidar already out of the game, a threatening Mustafizur Rahman bowled one back of the length, angling away from the seasoned hitter.

Shiffled to his left, Kohli tried to play the pull-shot on the short delivery. But he could not go over the edge.

Kohli was left in dismay as Rahane, the guy at the mid-wicket boundary ropes, rushed towards the square-leg area, grabbed the catch, and safely handed the ball to an arriving Rachin Ravindra before tumbling into the ropes.

After Cameron Green attempted to take a length delivery on the backfoot but misjudged the ball angling back in and it crashed onto the stumps, Mustafizur’s scorching spell continued to spell more trouble instantly. Green was then dismissed in the second delivery that followed Kohli’s departure, leaving RCB at a precarious 78/5.
