IPL 2024 SETTLEMENT? Four Suspected Bookies Taken into Arrest at Wankhede and the Home Stadium of the Rajasthan Royals

Jaipur: With the arrest of four bookmakers, there are once again claims of match-fixing in the IPL. The bookies were taken from two luxury boxes at Sawai Mansingh Stadium during the Rajasthan Royals’ match against the Delhi Capitals on March 28 and from the Wankhede stadium for the other two. The police have been tasked with interviewing all four of the alleged bookmakers. The four bookmakers were identified by the Indian cricket Board’s (BCCI) Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU).

Why, therefore, do bookmakers favor making wagers from the stadium?

The bookmakers like it because it allows them to benefit from illicit betting by reducing the time lag caused by live transmission, a practice known as pitch-sliding. It is peculiar that, despite being the world’s largest cricket betting market, betting is prohibited in the nation.

Numerous questions are raised by this specific instance. Firstly, how are passes for the VIP boxes being distributed? It would be fascinating to examine the results after the police interrogation. Bookies have been arrested before. This is not the first time. Before the ACU arrested the individual, bookmakers were allegedly using an approved cleaner at Ferozeshah Kotla Stadium in Delhi to undertake pitch-siding during the 2021 IPL.

Spot Fixing in 2023: A few Rajasthan Royals players were discovered to be part of the spot-fixing scandal that shook the league. Several gamers received suspensions as a result of the event. Ankeet Chavan, Ajit Chandila, and Sreesanth were taken into custody. At that moment, eleven bookies were also taken into custody.
