IPL2024: Gujarat Titans want to keep up their winning streak against Punjab Kings

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Titans will want to keep up their winning streak when they play the Punjab Kings on Thursday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The Kings will be hoping to stop their losing streak.

In their most recent match, the Titans overcame Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets by sticking to their tried-and-true strategy of driving the game deep into the chase. Meanwhile, the Kings, chasing a 200-run target set by the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), were destroyed by Mayank Yadav’s 3/27.

The Titans will rely on Wriddhiman Saha and skipper Shubman Gill to get off to a quick start and on Sai Sudharsan, David Miller, Vijay Shankar, and Rahul Tewatia in the middle order to give them momentum in the second part of the innings.

The Afghan pacers Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmed, and experienced pacer Mohit Sharma, together with the right-arm bowling duo of Azmatullah Omarzai and Umesh Yadav, will attempt to put the Kings to the test.
The Kings will believe they were treated unfairly by Dinesh Karthik of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Yadav of the Giants after beginning their season with a win against the Delhi Capitals with hits from Englishmen Sam Curran and Liam Livingstone.

They were both in good situations going into Karthik’s cameo, which ended up taking the game away from them in Bengaluru. However, when the Kings were chasing 200 runs against LSG, they choked despite skipper Shikhar Dhawan and Jonny Bairstow’s opening partnership of 100 runs.
The chase was hampered by losing three wickets in the middle overs, an area that their assistant bowling coach, Trevor Gonsalves, focused on for development. “We were on a cruise. We were delayed because of the three wickets that dropped in the group. Therefore, Gonsalves said on Wednesday, “We are resolving those issues.”
It is questionable if Livingstone, who batted lower than normal against LSG due to a hamstring problem, will be available on match eve. Calls about Livingstone will only be accepted on matchday, according to Gonsalves.

The opposition has been stymied by the Kings’ bowling assault, which includes left-arm spinner Harpreet Brar (4 wickets in 3 matches), pacers Kagiso Rabada (4 wickets in 3 matches), Sam Curran, and Arshdeep Singh (4 wickets in 3 matches), although runs lost by Harshal Patel and Rahul Chahar are cause for worry.
Gonsalves said, “I’m not really concerned” in relation to this. Whether it’s Rahul or Harshal, they are both excellent players. They have had several instances of being struck. They’ll make a powerful comeback.
