Meet ‘Thala’ MS Dhoni’s 103-year-old ardent fan, S Ramdas

When it comes to his fan base, MS Dhoni has always been one of the largest and most ardent. Despite his retirement from international cricket, MSD continues to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), a fact that his supporters across the globe like and admire. Age is no barrier, as supporters beg to witness their “Thala” in action as soon as the Indian Premier League season begins. One such amazing fan is based in Chennai, a city well-known for its intense devotion to CSK and Dhoni.

Even at his advanced age, 103-year-old S Ramdas enjoys watching IPL matches and has been a longtime supporter of the team. The 103-year-old is an ardent sports fan, and his devotion to CSK is still quite evident today.

In a video posted by CSK, Ramdas declares his passion for the Chennai Super Kings and his hope to meet MS Dhoni in the future—a desire that is held by many supporters of all ages.

“Although I am 103 years old, I am not elderly. My age is thirty-nine. I like watching cricket, he said, adding that even if he is terrified to play, he still enjoys watching it. Speaking further about Dhoni, Ramdas said he would want to meet Dhoni and see a CSK game in Chepauk. He adds, “Take me whenever he calls and whenever he has time.”

Ramdas, who will be 104 this year, discussed the fast-paced aspect of Twenty20 cricket in the video, saying that it goes by swiftly and doesn’t drag on. Ramdas, a former British Army member and ardent IPL supporter, seems to be in good spirits even after all these years. He enjoys donning the yellow jersey and watching IPL games on TV.

Chennai Super Kings’ current IPL 2024 position

The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led Chennai Super Kings, who were ranked fifth in the standings, lost to the Lucknow Super Giants in their most recent game. While no visiting club had defeated CSK in Chepauk in the three games before to this one this season, LSG’s outstanding effort—which included a century from Marcus Stoinis—led Lucknow to victory.

On Sunday, April 28, CSK will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad at MA Chidambaram Stadium in their next game.
