Sanju Samson Will Not Be Included in Irfan Pathan’s 15-Member Indian T20 World Cup Squad for the 2024 IPL
Sanju Samson and KL Rahul, two of the IPL 2024’s best players, have been left off of veteran cricketer Irfan Pathan’s 15-man Indian team for the next T20 World Cup in the USA and the Caribbean.
As the deadline of May 1 approaches, Team India is expected to reveal their preliminary roster for the main event this weekend. But up to May 25, each competing club will have the opportunity to add or remove individuals from their starting lineup.
Irfan Pathan selected his potential 15-man Indian team for the T20 World Cup 2024 as part of the Star Sports VisaToWorldCup campaign during the Indian Premier League 2024.
Along with regular suspects Virat Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma, the former all-rounder has picked Rishabh Pant as the only wicketkeeper in the team. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill are the other choices for top order.
Along with revealing his top three picks for the batting order on social media, Pathan also supported Jaiswal to bat alongside Rohit, with Kohli coming in at number three as usual.
“As the World Cup draws closer,. My three choices for Team India. 1) Rohit Sharma (both as captain and in form) 2) Pathan wrote on X about Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has been arguing that he ought to be there even before turning 100 since he was playing well for Team India before to the IPL.
“3 Virat Kohli. (His location and strike rate shouldn’t be in doubt. Compared to Chris Gayle’s +51 average, his strike rate in the T20I is 138 times better. This season, his ipl strike rate is 150.
Pathan’s contingent for the June showpiece competition included Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, and Suryakumar Yadav, who would be the first choice in many teams.
The former left-arm seamer’s squad also included Rinku Singh and the in-form Shivam Dube. Hardik Pandya, who has often come under fire from his state colleague, is included in the 15.
Pathan’s team now includes the Kul-Cha duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal as specialist spinners, with Mohammed Siraj and Arshdeep Singh rounding out the bowling assault. This is what Irfan Pathan selected:
