On May 11, more than 100 cyclists will compete in a mountain bike event

On May 11, the 11th Shimla Mountain Biking (MTB) competition will begin here. 100 cyclists from 25 cities throughout the nation are registered to compete.

This yearly mountain bike spectacle, which takes place against the stunning Shivalik Range of the Himalayas, promises to be an exhilarating display of endurance, skill, and pure adventure.

Aside from service teams and the host of national riders, national champions such as Akshit Gaur, Yugal Thakur, Ankush Arya, Gaurav Negi, and Rajveer, as well as women national champions Priyanka Mehta, Sunita Shreshtha, and Divija Sood, will be the main attractions.

The event has a strenuous two-stage structure that covers 120km and 3000 meters of elevation gain. The course offers the best off-roading experience, passing through verdant meadows, river crossings, difficult terrain, and deep woods.

The event will start on May 10 with registration and a prologue flag off, followed by Stage I flag off on May 11 and Stage II flag off on May 12. On May 12, at the Ridge here, there will be a podium and award presentation ceremony. The event, which was started by HASTPA, has expanded rapidly over time and attracted people from all around the world.

Since its start in 2011, the race has established a standard for cross-country racing competitions in the nation, developing fresh talent and elevating Shimla to the status of a top mountain riding destination. HASTPA Chief Mohit Sood expressed delight at the event’s expansion and promised to keep working to improve Shimla’s reputation among mountain bikers worldwide.

“Riders from all over the country come together to compete against the difficult terrain and one another, testing their mettle in the pursuit of their big break. In addition to representing one’s hometown, there is a chance to win the esteemed title of Mountain Biking Capital of India, according to Sood. He said, “The event promises an unparalleled combination of anguish, joy, and the ultimate rush that only the Himalayas can offer.”

For the first time this year, the event will be sponsored by Firefox, a well-known maker of outdoor adventure gear.
