Rahul Dravid, the head coach of Team India, showed up at the polls on Friday morning in Bengaluru as the second round of the Lok Sabha elections in 14 Karnataka seats got underway. Voters turned out to exercise their right to vote, and long lines were seen at polling places.

Legends from Indian cricket also made their way to the polls to cast their ballots in the meantime. Before casting his ballot in the Malleswaram constituency, head coach Dravid lined up with other voters. The former cricket player encouraged the public to cast their ballots during his media appearances.

“Everyone needs to cast a ballot. It’s a chance we have in a democracy,” Dravid said.

Anil Kumble, the former captain of India, showed up with his spouse to cast his ballot and posted a photo on his X account.

In Karnataka, the first two hours after voting started on Friday had an estimated 9.21% participation. According to PTI, 9.21% of voters cast ballots through 9 a.m.

Of the fourteen segments that will vote today, Dakshina Kannada will have the greatest turnout—14.33 percent—followed by Udupi-Chikmagalur (12.82 percent), while Chamarajanagar and Mandya will have the lowest—7.70 percent.

Turnout was 9.08 percent in Bangalore South, 8.64 percent in Bangalore North, and 8.14 percent in Bangalore South, out of the three constituencies in Bengaluru city.

Stars at the voting booths
A number of well-known people, including Prakash Raj, Ganesh, and Siddalinga Mahaswami of the Siddaganga Math, cast their ballots at the appropriate voting places.

Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, the BJP candidate from Mysore and the scion of the former Mysuru royal dynasty, cast his ballot in Mysuru along with his spouse Trishika Kumari Devi and “Rajmata” Pramoda Devi Wadiyar.

Voting also were Home Minister G Parameshwara, BJP candidate K Sudhakar for Chikkballapur, and party candidate V Somanna for Tumkur.
