Rasikh Salam, a bowler for the Delhi Capitals, was chastised for violating the IPL code of conduct

Rasikh Salam Dar, a bowler for the Delhi Capitals, has received criticism for his too enthusiastic celebration after his team’s exciting victory against the Gujarat Titans on Wednesday night in an IPL 2024 encounter at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

With the ball, Rasikh was DC’s standout performance. In his four overs, he amassed figures of 3/44 and removed B Sai Sudarshan, Shahrukh Khan, and R Sai Kishore.

According to IPL Code of Conduct Article 2.5, Dar committed a Level 1 offense. He acknowledged the offense and consented to the match referee’s punishment. The judgment made by the Match Referee for Level 1 violations of the Code of Conduct is final and enforceable, according to an IPL statement.

“Language, actions or gestures which disparage or could provoke an aggressive reaction from a another player” are covered under Article 2.5.

According to the IPL code of conduct, Article 2.5 covers any words, deeds, or gestures that a player uses against a dismissed batter that could incite an aggressive response from the batter, regardless of whether a reaction occurs, or that could be interpreted as demeaning or disparaging the dismissed batter, regardless of whether the batter feels dehumanized or disparaged themselves (i.e., a “send-off”).

Article 2.5, without restriction, comprises:

(a) excessive revelry aimed at and around the batter who was ejected;

(b) verbally insulting the batter who was discharged; and

(c) making a gesture or pointing toward the pavilion.

With a four-run margin of victory, DC achieved their fourth victory of the season. They have moved up to the sixth position in the IPL points standings as a result of it.

It was GT’s sixth loss in the 2024 Indian Premier League, and they are now ranked seventh.

With the visitors needing 37 to win, Pant tossed the ball to Rasikh in the 19th over of the GT innings. Despite giving up 18 runs, the right-arm bowler managed to get the crucial wicket of Sai Kishore with the last ball of the over.

“(Anrich) Nortje was going through a hard moment. T20 is an interesting game; the ball began picking up speed around 14 or 15 overs. It was our intention to have faith in Rasikh, as we usually do when someone performs well while bowling. As a captain, I believe that sometimes it comes out as instinct. Happy that worked today,” Pant said, elaborating on his choice.
