The millionth spectator passed through the turnstiles during Friday’s Afghanistan vs. South Africa match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, with six games remaining, according to an ICC press statement.

The competition has already shattered several digital and viewership records.

“The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 has reminded cricket fans around the world of the support and interest in the ODI format that highlights how much world cup cricket is valued,” said Chris Tetley, Head of Events at the ICC, “with over 1 million attendees and record-breaking viewership.”

“We hope that this event breaks more records and showcases the best of cricket in one day as we move closer to the knockout stages,” he said.
