Tim Southee of New Zealand is questionable for the ICC Cricket World Cup due to a thumb injury

After fracturing a bone in his right thumb during the fourth One-Day International match against England on Friday at Lord’s, Tim Southee of New Zealand is questionable for the ICC Cricket World Cup.

In England’s 14th over, Southee was hurt while trying to take a catch.

Tomorrow, when he receives more evaluation, “a timeline for his recovery will be established,” New Zealand stated.

For the World Cup in India, which begins on October 5 against reigning champion England in a rematch of the 2019 final, Southee has been added to New Zealand’s 15-man squad.

If Southee gets it to the World Cup, he will face off against Trent Boult, Matt Henry, and Lockie Ferguson for a berth in the New Zealand squad.
