Usman Ghani quits cricket due to the “corrupt” leadership of the Afghanistan Cricket Board

Afghanistan cricketer Usman Ghani decided to leave the game because of the “corrupt” board leadership.

Afghanistan’s opening batsman Usman Ghani is not happy with the way things are going at the country’s cricket body. After being passed over for a berth in the squad for the next bilateral series against Bangladesh, Ghani has decided to “take a sabbatical” from the sport.

Ghani called the executives of the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) “corrupt,” saying that the current chief selector had not provided an explanation for his rejection from the squad. Ghani said that if the management was altered, he would prefer to re-join the group.

at a series of tweets, Ghani underlined the present situation at the ACB. Even yet, he acknowledged that despite his numerous efforts to see the board chairman, none of them had been successful.

I’ve made the decision to take a break from Afghanistan Cricket after giving it some thought. I’ve been forced to take a step back by the cricket board’s unscrupulous leadership. I’ll keep working hard while anxiously anticipating the appointment of the ideal management and selection committee. 1/3 pic.twitter.com/lGWQUDdIwJ

“I have made the decision to take a sabbatical from Afghanistan Cricket after giving it some thought. I’ve been forced to take a step back by the cricket board’s unscrupulous leadership. I will keep working hard and anxiously await the appointment of the proper management and selection committee, Ghani said in a string of tweets.

I’ll happily come back to play for Afghanistan once it occurs. I’m refraining from speaking on behalf of my dear country till then. I made many trips, but the chairman was never accessible, so I was unable to see him,” he said.

He said, “Moreover, the chief selector had no satisfactory explanation for my exclusion from all format.”

Ghani has so far represented Afghanistan in 17 ODIs and 35 T20 Internationals. His last appearance for his nation came on March 27 in Sharjah during the T20I series against Pakistan. In January 2022, he faced the Netherlands in his last ODI for the squad.
