Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik Discontinue Use of Social Media Following Trial Exemption Scandal

Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik, two well-known Indian wrestlers, have said they would be avoiding social media for a few days. The pair, together with Bajrang Punia, have been leading the demonstration in the nation’s capital against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.

This comes after Phogat posted a copy of the letter on social media, which revealed that the six wrestlers just requested additional preparation time since they were part in the protest and didn’t request exemption from the Asian Games trials.

Social media break le rahi hoon tode din ke liye.I’m taking a little vacation from social media for a few days. Thank you, everyone,” she tweeted Phogat.

“Main bhi thode din ke liye social media se break le rahi hoon,” Malik subsequently wrote. I’m also taking a little vacation from social media for a few days, Aap sabka dhanyavaad. I want to thank everyone.

Olympic medalist Yogeshwar Dutt questioned last week the Indian Olympic Association’s ad hoc panel’s decision to exclude the protesting wrestlers.

Dutt is allegedly assaulting Phogat, Malik, and Punia because he has a personal vendetta against them.

Wrestlers were frightened off by you (Dutt), which is why they skipped the second protest (on April 23). You threaten them with losing their employment if they don’t comply. People claimed to be with us but couldn’t attend because of obligations, according to Phogat.

“I’ll explain why you’re acting in this way. You may have sided with Brij Bhushan because he offered you the position of WFI President, she continued.

After receiving assurances from Sports Minister Anurag Thakur that Brij Bhushan would face charges and that no member of his family will be allowed to run for office in the WFI, the wrestlers were removed from Jantar Mantar and their protest was put on hold.
