“Want to Remain in the Present, No Expectations”: Prithvi Shaw Is Concentrated on Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy Win

Prithvi Shaw said that his main goal right now is assisting Mumbai in winning the Ranji Trophy, therefore he has no expectations of ever playing for the Indian team again. The Mumbaikar, who suffered a knee injury during his county career with Northamptonshire last year, has now recovered to make a return in professional cricket.

Shaw showed class in his second game back after being out of the bag, hitting a brilliant 159 runs off 185 balls with 18 fours and 3 sixes.

Prior to his magnificent performance, Shaw said that he wanted to focus on the here and now and give the Mumbai squad his all throughout the Ranji Trophy.

“I want to be in the here and now and am not thinking too far ahead. There are no expectations, and I’m glad to be playing cricket again. I simply want to give it my all since I just returned from my injury. In an interview with The Indian Express, Prithvi Shaw said, “My goal is to win the Ranji Trophy for Mumbai, and I’m trying to achieve that by contributing as much as I can going ahead.”

Shaw was sidelined from the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy, two domestic white-ball competitions, due to a knee injury. He has had inconsistent performance with the bat before to his injury.

The 24-year-old last participated in an India match in July 2021, but he has been working hard ever then to earn a spot in the team again with his steady play in domestic cricket.

“I wanted to perform well, but I had doubts about my ability to bat in my manner at one point. Kaise kheloonga (how would I play), when I would return, and whether it would be positively or negatively. These were the ideas that were circulating. However, everything returned to normal after I was gone for a few hours, Shaw said.

Shaw had a difficult few months while he recovered from surgery and went through a rehabilitation program to return to the field.

“I wasn’t anxious, but when I started batting again, I felt a little ajeeb, or weird. Nevertheless, I was encouraging myself that things would work out by simulating a match. “I had good body language,” he continued.
