Watch Ruturaj Gaikwad’s Incredibly Funny Reaction When Ravindra Jadeja Dismisses KL Rahul With a Flying Catch

When Ravindra Jadeja dove to his left to grab a diving catch of KL Rahul on the first ball of the 18th over of LSG’s inning during the IPL 2024 encounter between the two teams in Lucknow on Friday (April 19), Chennai Super Kings skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad couldn’t believe what he saw. When Rahul attempted to play a cut shot against Matheesha Pathirana, he was batting 82 runs off 52 balls. However, Jadeja, who was positioned at point, made an incredible catch with his left hand to finish his inning.

LSG captain Rahul expressed shock at being captured, while the expressions of Gaikwad and Pathirana showed a similar expression.

But by the time of his removal, Rahul had ‘nearly secured’ the victory for LSG, as they were able to successfully chase down the goal at the expense of only two wickets, scoring 177 runs in 19 overs. Along with Rahul, Quinton de Kock, the opening batsman for LSG, also reached a half-century. Using 43 balls, he contributed 54 runs.

With his fifty on Friday at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, Rahul eclipsed MS Dhoni’s record for the most fifty-plus scores in the Indian Premier League. This was Rahul’s 25th fifty-plus performance in the lucrative league. Dhoni now has 24 fifty-score innings in 257 IPL games.

Dhoni participated in the world’s wealthiest franchise cricket competition for a few seasons with both the Rising Pune Supergiants and the Chennai Super Kings. Dhoni also delighted the crowd during the CSK vs. LSG game with some impressive batting towards the conclusion of CSK’s innings. For CSK, the 42-year-old Dhoni started at No. 8 and amassed 28 runs from nine balls without losing thanks to three fours and two sixes.

In the IPL, Dhoni’s 28-run performance against LSG helped him establish a new global record. As a designated wicketkeeper-batter in the Indian Premier League, he became the first cricket player in history to achieve 5000 runs.
