Uttar Pradesh: Four children and the driver are killed when a school van and bus collide in Budaun

An official said that a collision between a school van and bus here on Monday resulted in the deaths of four students, the driver, and sixteen additional injuries.

A head-on accident between a Satyadev Inter College Jawahar Nagla school bus and a Maruti vehicle belonging to SRPS English Medium School Gautra happened at about 8 am near Naviganj village, according to District Magistrate Manoj Kumar of Badaun.

The collision claimed the lives of van driver Omendra (28), pupils Khushi (6), Parul (9), Harshit (9) and an unidentified person.

According to the DM, six of the wounded students are in severe condition and have been taken to Government Medical College and the district hospital.

Witnesses said that the van was carrying approximately 20 schoolchildren when it lost control due to a pothole on the road and struck the school bus, according to Kumar.

The dead children and the other were brought to a neighboring hospital in Budaun, according to PTI images.

He said that there are ongoing investigations.
