Adityanath assesses flood mitigation efforts in Gonda, UP, and sends officials to emergencies

According to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the district’s flood prevention plans have been finished, and employees from the relevant agencies have been dispatched.

After seeing the building of the Eli Parsauli embankment and the Elgin Bridge on the Ghaghra river, around 35 kilometers from the district headquarters, Adityanath spoke with media. Along with authorities and members of the public, he also went through the district’s pre-flood preparations.

The chief minister said the area has got normal rainfall this year after touring the building sites with Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh. However, the Ghaghra and Rapti rivers’ water levels have increased as a result of the heavy rain in Uttarakhand.

The numbers are expected to rise much more, Adityanath stated. To avert flooding, the administration has made all necessary preparations. He claimed that the district’s four dam embankments—Elgin-Charsadi, Bhikharipur-Sakaur, Paraspur-Dhaurhara, and the Bhauriganj Ring—have all been repaired by the irrigation department.

Also installed by the district government are 28 flood posts. “Departments of Health, Animal Husbandry, and Revenue are prepared to carry out their duties… In flood-affected districts, boats are prepared, according to the chief minister.

Adityanath also convened a meeting with elected officials and administrative staff. In the event of a flood, he advised against any complacency in aiding the impacted people. It is important to make plans for those who may be impacted by potential flooding. Mobile medical teams should continue to operate in the impacted districts in the event of a flood, he said.
