355 voters from Noida cast their first-ever home vote in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections

Noida: On Monday, 355 voters in the Gautam Budh Nagar seat who are old or have impairments were permitted to cast their ballots from home for the first time. This program, which was first launched by the Election Commission of India (ECI) for these elections, allows voters to cast their ballots from the comfort of their homes, even those who are elderly or disabled (with a disability threshold of 40%). Elections in the district are planned on April 26.

The Election Commission (EC) is working to improve elderly and disabled voters’ accessibility to the voting process. Eight teams were put together and sent out for this program, covering the whole district and working from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on April 15 and 16, in Noida, three in Dadri, and nine in Jewar, according to authorities. Simrandeep Singh, the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) designated general observer for Gautam Budh Nagar, inspected polling places on Monday and gave officials instructions to make sure everything was ready well in advance. Furthermore, he managed the voter slip distribution process carried out by Booth Level Officers, stressing the need of prompt delivery to minimize any disruptions for voters on election day.

A special voting campaign will end today.
According to the Hindustan Times, this information was revealed by Dr. VK Agrawal, the official in charge of postal ballots and the electronically transmitted postal vote mechanism.

A polling staff performed the voting from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. For these voter categories, all teams will once again conduct home voting on April 16 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Officers are working hard to make sure there are no errors in this first-ever procedure, and vote paper collection is anticipated to continue till today (Tuesday), according to Agarwal.

There are almost 20,000 voters in the Gautam Buddh Nagar constituency who fall into the two categories; 424 of them chose to cast ballots, and 355 of them did so today.

Breakout of voters who are elderly or handicapped in the area:

There are 4,288 senior citizen voters and 4,453 handicapped voters in the Noida assembly seat.

Dadri Assembly Constituency: 3,864 voters with disabilities and 4,034 senior citizen voters

Jewar: 2,335 voters with disabilities and 3,144 senior citizen voters
