As sports infrastructure projects are launched, UP Adityanath claims that attitudes around sports have changed over the last nine years

While addressing a crowd on Sunday in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for transforming people’s perceptions of sports and athletes in India during the previous nine years of his administration.

Prime Minister Modi laid the cornerstone for the first International Cricket Stadium in Ganjari, Varanasi.

What was said by CM Yogi Adityanath?
CM Yogi Adityanath described Varanasi as the oldest and most spiritual city in the world and said that under PM Modi’s direction, the city has seen comprehensive progress.

The CM then allegedly added, “PM Modi has once again come to Kashi today with several presents. He was joined at the function by renowned cricket players. In Uttar Pradesh, the BCCI is building an international cricket stadium for the first time.

“The Prime Minister has landed in his own Kashi today with numerous accomplishments after the G-20’s exceptional success. I would like to convey a warm welcome to him on this occasion on behalf of the UP government and the people of Kashi. Global leaders have keenly observed India’s potential and strength during the G-20. Additionally, Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam states that India’s 140 crore citizens have seen their nation’s emergence as a worldwide power in the presence of world leaders,” the CM remarked.

Former cricketers like Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Gundappa Vishwanath, Sachin Tendulkar, Ravi Shastri, Dilip Vengsarkar, Madan Lal, Gopal Sharma, Neetu David, and Shubhangi Kulkarni were greeted in Kashi as the Chief Minister remarked that they had all elevated Indian cricket to new heights and spread the passion of the game throughout every home.

The CM also congratulated the BCCI’s Vice President Rajeev Shukla, Secretary Jai Shah, and Chairman Roger Binny for their keen interest in building a stadium for international cricket in Varanasi.

Furthermore, CM said, “Over the last nine years, the whole nation has seen a change in work culture. Every sector has seen remarkable growth. The view of sports and athletes in the nation has transformed thanks to Khelo India, Fit India, and Sansad Sports Competition.

“In addition to this, there is the effort of establishing Khelo India Centers in each district. Sports infrastructure is developing quickly, with sports fields in every hamlet and miniature stadiums in every development block. In Varanasi, the Sigra Stadium is being renovated as part of Smart City. The third international cricket stadium in Uttar Pradesh is getting its foundation stone set for the first time by the BCCI, said CM Yogi.
