From August 9, Samajwadi Party will begin a bicycle rally in Uttar Pradesh

On August 9, August Kranti Diwas, the Samajwadi Party (SP) will undertake a relay cycling rally from Prayagraj. The party will advocate for a caste census during the event, “Desh bachao, Desh banao,” while also calling for the BJP to be overthrown.

On November 22, the birth anniversary of late party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav, the rally will come to a close in Lucknow.

The ‘August Kranti Diwas’ is commemorated to honor the protest movement that got its start on August 9, 1942, in an effort to overthrow British authority in India.

The SP will launch its ‘Desh bachao, Desh banao’ bicycle rally on the same day to demand an end to the BJP’s dominance in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Before the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the 2017 Assembly elections, the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, and the 2022 Assembly elections, the SP has organized the “Desh bachao, Desh banao” initiative.

“The bicycle rally will begin from Prayagraj on August 9 and travel through Kaushambhi, Chitrakoot, Banda, Fatehpur, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh, Amethi, Sultanpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Faizabad, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar, Gorakhpur, Deoria, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Sidharth Nagar, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Gonda, Barabanki and end at Lucknow,” said SP’s state chief Naresh Uttam Patel.

Abhishek Yadav, the head of the party’s Ghazipur unit, will take the helm of the rally during which the SP will attempt to position itself as a rival to the BJP.

According to Patel, “the rallyists comprising party young leaders and workers would communicate with people about their pain and suffering owing to tyranny, injustice, and fear of the BJP government at major sites in each Lok Sabha constituency, Vidhan Sabha constituency, and other critical points.

Additionally, they would seek information on the issues faced by PDA (Pichada, Dalit, Alpsankhyak), the underprivileged, farmers, women, etc., and educate them about SP’s programs and ideology. They will discuss the state’s previous SP administration’s efforts to improve public welfare.

Patel has requested cooperation from all SP MPs, former MPs, MLAs, ex MLAs, the president of district/city units, and other office bearers in their respective regions for the cycle rally.

The SP’s polling emblem and preferred method of electioneering is the bicycle.
