Officer murders instructor carrying UP board answer papers by opening fire

MEERUT: A 35-year-old government teacher was slain on Sunday night when a UP police chief constable is said to have opened fire with his carbine while intoxicated.

They were on their way to a college run by the Civil Lines police station in Muzaffarnagar in a car that had UP board answer papers. Chandraprakash, a 50-year-old police officer, was soon taken into custody.
The victim, Dharmendra Kumar, along with three of his colleagues, sub-inspector Nagendra Chauhan, and accused head constable Chandraprakash, had travelled from the Varanasi district to deliver copies of the board exam copies for classes 10 and 12 to a college in Muzaffarnagar, according to SP (city), Satyanarayan Prajapat.
“They were all sleeping in the car because the institution was closed.

Later, while under the influence of alcohol, the accused began causing nuisances. He shot Dharmendra when he protested. The victim, a Chandauli district native, was pronounced dead at the hospital, the official added. “Medical examination of the accused confirmed he was drunk at the time of the incident,” said OM Prakash, SHO of the Civil Lines police station. We are awaiting the victim’s relatives to submit a complaint so that a murder investigation may be opened.
Following the event, hundreds of educators protested, calling for financial support and a government position for a family member.
