People who make a big deal about democracy are actually doing it the most harm: Adityanath Attacks TMC Government Over Violence in Elections

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, criticized the TMC government in West Bengal on Thursday for the violence that happened during the recent local elections. He said that people who “hue and cry” about democracy are actually doing the most harm to it.

The chief minister gave appointment letters to newly hired officers who had passed exams given by the UP Public Service Commission and the UP Subordinate Services Selection Commission. He also said that giving jobs to people based on their race or religion is “the biggest sin that a government can commit.”

“During the panchayat polls in West Bengal, there was bloodshed on the days of voting and counting, and innocent people died as a result. People who are upset about democracy right now are actually doing the most damage to democracy, Adityanath said.

Mamata Banerjee, head of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and chief minister of West Bengal, and other opposition leaders have said that the BJP is not acting in a fair way.

At the panchayat elections in West Bengal on July 8, there was a lot of bloodshed that killed at least 15 people, 11 of whom were from the ruling TMC. Since the election date was set a month ago, 33 people have died in events connected to the vote.

Adityanath, on the other hand, said that the urban local body polls in UP just happened three months ago and that there was no bloodshed or cheating anywhere.

In a formal release, the CM was reported as saying, “This is the same state where holding peaceful elections was a dream before 2017.”

Adityanath said that his government has set up a system where there is no room for bias, either during the selection process or in the final position.

“The worst thing a government can do is treat its citizens differently when giving them jobs, and the people have taught those governments a good lesson for holding back the progress of the state’s best people,” he said.

“No one can say anything bad about the way jobs are filled in Uttar Pradesh today. In the past six years, we’ve been able to find jobs for six lakh young people in the government,” he said.

The CM also said that between 2021 and 2023, the state government had finished 16 programs that gave employment letters to about 55,000 young people.

When talking to the new officers about how his government works, he said, “In one way or another, issues that affect the whole state will come to you. We should try to make sure that no file sits on a desk for more than three days.

The CM said that before 2017, the jobless rate in the state was more than 19%, but that the state government has been able to lower the unemployment rate in the state over the past six years.

“We have also worked to help more than two crore young people find work on their own. Now, our government wants to set up an Education Commission, which will combine the work of the Higher Education Selection Commission, the Secondary Education Selection Commission, and the Basic Education Selection Commission,” he said.

Adityanath said that every part of society is getting the benefits of the Constitution’s reservation system.
