“Ready to assist with the inquiry”: Akhilesh Yadav is probably going to ignore the CBI’s summons in the matter of illicit mining

According to reports, Samajwadi Party (SP) head Akhilesh Yadav responded to the Central Bureau of probe’s (CBI) summons by saying he is willing to assist with the probe into the illegal mining case. Yadav said that he would be open to taking part in the inquiry and proposed that it take place in Lucknow. Additionally, he offered the option to participate in the proceedings by video conference. It is doubtful that Akhilesh Yadav would visit Delhi tomorrow since, according to a close colleague of his and a senior party official, the party office is already busy with many meetings about the preparations for the next Lok Sabha elections.

Party obligations come first.
According to sources, Yadav has an important PDA (Picchda, Dalit, and Alpsankhyak) meeting scheduled at the party’s Lucknow headquarters later today. The party official said that Yadav has no intention of going anywhere.

Verification from a spokeswoman for the party
Samajwadi Party spokesman Rajendra Chowdhury confirmed Yadav’s commitment to the planned gathering in Lucknow in an interview with PTI. He ruled out that Yadav would visit Delhi for the CBI investigation.

“Akhileshji will attend a meeting of the PDA at the party office today.” “He will not be leaving. In Lucknow, he is scheduled to attend a meeting,” said Rajendra Chowdhury.

Yadav’s standing inside the inquiry
Officials said that Yadav is being called as a witness in the illicit mining cases that date back to his time as Uttar Pradesh’s chief minister, not as an accused party.

Context of the case
The cases under investigation included purported errors in the mining lease issuing that occurred between 2012 and 2016, with allegations that these inconsistencies allowed illicit mining operations to continue in spite of a ban issued by the National Green Tribunal.

Yadav’s reaction to the notification
In response to the CBI’s notice, Yadav attacked the BJP and said that the timing of the investigation was motivated by politics. He hinted that these kinds of warnings, which cast doubt on the BJP’s actions and intentions, often occur during election seasons.

persistent political hostilities
Yadav’s comments alluded to the Samajwadi Party and the governing BJP’s continued political tensions, with charges and denials often occurring in the run-up to elections.
