UP: A Twin Cylinder Blast in Lucknow Kills Five Family Members and Injures Four More

In a home in this region of Hata Hazrat Sahab, two LPG cylinders exploded, killing five members of a family and injuring four more, according to police on Wednesday.

The event happened on Tuesday at around 10.30 p.m. under the jurisdiction of Kakori Police Station.

A fire that was allegedly started by a short circuit occurred before the detonation.

To put out the fire, three fire department crews and local assistance were required.

Five of the nine family members who were taken to King George Medical University’s Trauma Center perished there, according to the police.

They named the dead as Husn Bano, 45, Raiya, 7, Uma, 4, and Hina, 2. The deceased were identified as Mushir, 50.

Police said that Isha, 17, Lakab, 21, Amjad, 34, and Anam, 18, were admitted to the hospital with burn injuries.

Speaking with media at the Trauma Center, District Magistrate Suryapal Gangwar said that of the four patients receiving treatment at the hospital, two are critically ill with 90% burns, while the other two have 40% and 50% burn injuries.

In response to a question about whether the residence was being used as a crack factory, as some sources had claimed, the DM said that no such information had surfaced as of yet. Our teams are looking into the situation.

Two patients are very serious, according to Dr. Sandeep Tiwari, the director of the KGMU Trauma Center. Local resident Mohammad Chand told PTI Videos, “We are taking all care of them,” adding that the event happened when the kids were watching TV after supper.

Mushir escaped unscathed, while the other four people were left with burns. Then, trapped in the fire, he entered the home to try to rescue the others. When the lights were turned on at around 11:10, a burst occurred, he claimed.

According to Jamil Ahmad, among the deceased were Mushir, his spouse, as well as his niece and nephew.

Another witness, Tahsin Ahmand, said that a short circuit caused the cylinder explosion, which tore through the whole home.
