A peculiar instance involving a quarrel between lovers that escalated into a criminal investigation has surfaced in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The accused, a transgender woman, had a sex change procedure done at her lover’s request. The transgender lady met a young guy from a different city online and they fell in love. She was prepared to have a sex change procedure since the love became so strong. She was rejected by her partner after the operation, however, and as retaliation, she set fire to his vehicle. In Kanpur city, a vehicle that was parked outside a residence caught fire on March 4. Following an investigation by the police, it was discovered that Deepa from Indore, previously known as Deep, had planned this operation after being abandoned by her Kanpur-based boyfriend.

Deep Tanwaniya, an Indore resident of Zanjeer Bagh, was romantically involved with Vaibhav Shukla, a Kanpur resident of Chakeri. He paid over Rs 50 lakh to get his sex altered since he was so madly in love with Vaibhav. She became Deepa instead of Deep. As agreed upon, Vaibhav declined to wed Deepa when she traveled to Kanpur for the wedding. Deepa set Vaibhav’s vehicle on fire because she was wounded and driven by vengeance.

When the transgender lady met her partner on Instagram in 2021, the plot of this narrative took off. She said that she had paid many lakhs of rupees for sex-reassignment surgery in 2022, which included breast augmentation since she believed it would strengthen their relationship. In a television interview, she detailed how “he used to take money from me and also exploit me,” highlighting the psychological and financial abuse she endured. Despite her sacrifices and the promises of marriage, Vaibhav withdrew, saying that her infertility was a deal-breaker.

Deepa felt betrayed and let down, therefore, she made the decision to speak out against what she saw as a betrayal. In the Chakeri neighborhood of Shyam Nagar, she executed her plan by driving from Indore to Kanpur and setting Vaibhav’s Ertiga automobile on fire. She sobbed and confessed to the public after her detention, showing how incredibly disturbed she was and how far she would go to make up for her broken heart.
