UP CM Evaluates the Situation Following Heavy Rains and Requests Officials To Be Wary of Potential River Swelling

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, issued a directive on Monday urging all relevant ministries to be on high alert in case rivers in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh overflow owing to recent heavy rainfall.

In a review meeting held after a particularly heavy downpour, he requested that authorities continue to keep an eye on the situation, particularly the river embankments, and that disaster management teams and the flood units of the NDRF and SDRF stay on high alert at all times.

There is a chance that water levels in a number of rivers in Uttar Pradesh might increase during the coming days as a result of the heavy rains that have recently fallen in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The chief minister advised individuals involved in relief and rescue, as well as the irrigation and water resources department, to stay vigilant in such a circumstance.

“Embankments need to be continually inspected. In places devastated by floods or excessive rain, relief efforts shouldn’t be delayed. The impacted families should get all required assistance right now, according to Adityanath. After speaking with the mayor, MP, MLA, and other public figures in the area, he also instructed staff to address the issue of waterlogging.

On Sunday, Uttar Pradesh had heavy rains that caused rivers to overflow, disrupted city traffic, and flooded fields in rural regions.

Around 68 of the state’s 75 districts saw rain. More rain fell in the western Uttar Pradesh districts bordering Delhi and Uttarakhand than in the state’s central and eastern regions.
