UP: Drunk Burglar Robbing House In Kanpur And Falling Asleep, Caught After Aides Leave Him Behind

A strange series of events led to the arrest of a burglar in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, who had become too comfortable inside the home he had stolen into and slept off. The incident was reported in Kanpur’s Krishna Vihar neighborhood of Naubasta, when a member of the home owner’s family saw the suspect dozing off in the kitchen and reported him to the police.

The accused, Dayalpuram resident Deepak Shukla, entered the home with two of his accomplices in order to commit larceny. Shukla, who had been drinking while working, passed out in the kitchen as the other two made off with their goods.

According to reports, the home’s owner traveled to his hometown with other family members to attend his wife’s recent funeral. In his absence, he has requested his nephew to check on the residence.

When his nephew went to check, he discovered that someone had broken in and was sleeping in the kitchen. When the owner returned home, he was notified that goods worth more than Rs. 1.5 lakh were gone.

“When my nephew got home, he saw the gate shattered and everything thrown across the house. A guy was discovered sleeping soundly in the kitchen, according to the home’s owner, Indra Kumar Tiwari.

Later, the guy located in the residence was turned over to the police by Indra Kumar’s nephew.

The individual had been left behind by his criminal associates because he had been intoxicated and passed out in the kitchen, it was discovered during the police inquiry.

Shukla later admitted to police that he was a painter and that he often broke into homes where he had resided. He said that while drunk and passing out in the kitchen, his companions fled the scene with the stolen goods.

Police apprehended another of his associates, Utkarsh, and were now searching for Sunit Tiwari, their third conspirator.
