UP: Man Kills Self in Front of Girlfriend Following Phone Fight with Divorced Wife

After a dispute with his estranged wife over a video chat, a 30-year-old man in Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia district reportedly shot himself in the head in front of his girlfriend, according to police on Friday. The incident happened Thursday night in the Kotwali police station neighborhood’s Jamua Gopalpur village.

Sonu had a fight with his estranged wife over a video chat, according to Circle Officer of Police Vaibhav Pandey, and then shot himself in the head in front of his girlfriend with a homemade gun in a fit of fury. Sonu was taken to the district hospital, where physicians confirmed him dead, the police officer said, after a police squad responded to information about the occurrence and arrived on the scene.

He said that an investigation was underway.
