UP Minister Demands Removal of Mosque from Prayagraj Fort, Claims “Illegally Constructed”

In divisive statements, Uttar Pradesh minister Sanjay Nishad said that the mosque in Prayagraj’s Nishadraj Fort is “illegally constructed” and that if it is not taken down, members of the Nishad community would “throw it in the Ganga” if it is not.

On Monday, he was speaking to media outside of an event at the district offices in this city.

He said that during Indira Gandhi’s tenure as prime minister, the fort was dug.

There wasn’t a mosque there at the time. A report from the archaeological department detailing the excavation is also available. Therefore, the mosque was constructed later. It is an unauthorised mosque, he said.

“The fort is the epicentre of Hindu and Nishad beliefs. Will they (Muslims) now engage in both love and land jihad? Added he.

On the anniversary of the birth of tribal monarch Nishad Raj, thousands of people, according to the fisheries minister, who has often found himself in hot water, visit Prayagraj.

The populace will return this time as well. They have made the decision to toss the mosque into the Ganga if it is not taken down, he claimed.

He referred to the several fatalities that occurred in Ballia amid the intense heat as a “divine disaster”. After the inquiry committee publishes its findings, the government will provide assistance to anyone impacted, he said.
