UP Police Recruitment Exam Paper Leak Case: IPS Officer Appointed; Board Chairperson Removed

Renuka Mishra, the chairperson of the Recruitment Board, was fired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in the wake of the UP Police recruitment paper leak scandal. Rajiv Krishna, an IPS officer, has been named the new head of the recruiting board. The UP Police recruitment test attracted over 48 lakh applicants for more than 60,000 available positions. The test that was scheduled for February 17 and 18 has been canceled due to the paper leak, and a new written exam is scheduled for the next six months.

Regarding the matter of the leak of the constable recruiting paper, the internal inquiry committee has not been able to provide any reports. This action was taken when the Recruitment Board was required to make a formal complaint, and DG Vigilance Rajeev Krishna was assigned extra responsibility for the Recruitment Board.

CM Adityanath has promised to take legal action against the perpetrators after the document leak. The integrity of exams cannot be compromised. Under no circumstances will those who toy with the labor of the young be spared. In a post on X, he said, “The strictest measures will undoubtedly be implemented against such disruptive elements.” (sic)

Ajay Tiwari, the examination controller for the UP Lok Sabha, was already dismissed in connection with the RO and ARO test paper leak cases. STF has taken up the investigation of the UP Police document leak case. The issue of the paper leak surfaced in February, after the administration of the test. The test was canceled by the CM due to resistance from the candidates, despite the police first labeling it as a rumor.

Following requests for a retest from hundreds of demonstrators throughout Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow Police had already filed a First Information Report (FIR). Candidates who claimed that the test’s integrity had been compromised by the leak of a question paper on social media just hours before the exam were disqualified.
