Conflict between mother-in-laws and daughter-in-laws is a recurring story. However, one saas-bahu pair has disproved this. They are distinct as the most recognizable saas-bahu in Bokaro, Jharkhand’s Sector 4. Serving South Indian cuisine is their source of income. The locals really like their appam. The lady and her mother-in-law run an appam stand out of their vehicle, which makes them special.

Pushpa Verma, the mother-in-law, told Local 18 that she has been selling appam in Sector 4 for the last 30 days. She was inspired to create this meal after having her first taste of appam at her daughter Swati’s in-laws’ home. She subsequently made the decision to put up a stand, which she now sells with the assistance of her son Ujjwal and daughter-in-law Nidhi.

Ujjwal, Pushpa’s son, works for a private telecom business, while Nidhi, her daughter-in-law, stays at home and is now studying for her nursing test. In their spare time, Ujjwal and Nidhi assist her with the stall.

According to Pushpa, the first step in creating appam is to make a batter by combining semolina, curd, and salt. This batter is enhanced with finely chopped onions, curry leaves, carrots, and capsicum. The batter is then combined with mustard seeds and curry leaves, which have been tempered in heated oil. After being made on a platter, the appam is presented to diners with green chutney and an almond garnish.

According to Nidhi, a half plate of appam, which has six pieces, costs Rs 30, while a full plate, which has ten pieces, costs Rs 50. According to her, they sell appam every day from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. They bring in Rs 1,500 a day on average from the sale of 200 pieces of appam. Eventually, their family wants to put up their unique stand so that even more people may savor their delectable delicacies. A patron by the name of Gunja said that the appam was quite excellent and had the feel of home-cooked meals.
