A YouTuber With A “Cosmic” Connection Asks Elon Musk To Hire This Indian Barber

Songs like “Sar Jo Tera Chakraye” from the 1957 film Pyaasa have long immortalized the skill of Indian street barbers and their “champi.” An inexpensive ten-minute head massage is highly recommended by many Indians as a way to decompress after a demanding day. It goes without saying that the American YouTuber who recently had the opportunity to try the renowned champi lived up to the hype. Travel YouTuber Max McFarlin chose to have a head massage from a roadside barber in Delhi’s Nehru Place market after seeing someone else get one.

Max addresses his camera before settling into the barber’s chair, saying, “I saw this man, he’s working hard and he’s making it look good.” I can’t wait for this man to give me a head massage.” Max is then given a head and shoulder massage as well as an arm stretch by a barber called Muhammad Waris. In addition, he manipulates Max’s neck and snaps his finger joints like a chiropractor. Max seemed to be in complete happiness throughout the massage. “Elon Musk needs to hire this guy because I just went to space,” Max remarks a few minutes into the massage. “Best massage I have ever had,” he says of the encounter. Muhammad Waris carefully combs over Max’s oil-slicked hair as the ten-minute massage comes to a conclusion.

When Max finally confronts Muhammad Waris about the fee, Waris responds that he may pay according to his capacity. Then Max gives Waris what seem to be three Rs 500 bills, which he takes politely and shakes hands with.

On YouTube, this video has had over 1.9 views since it was uploaded on April 21. A YouTube viewer commented on it, saying, “You have paid him considerably more than what he earns for every massage, but I felt relieved too. I’ll definitely give him a try tomorrow since my workplace is located in Nehru Place, which is about 50 meters from where you were.”
