Amazing tale of a guy who misplaced his cellphones at Jama Masjid and eventually recovered them

Tech influencer Shahrukh told his amazing tale of finding two of his cellphones that he had misplaced at last year’s Ramadan iftar in Delhi’s Jama Masjid. Shahrukh described how technology protections allowed him to find his missing smartphones—a Xiaomi Civi 2 and an Apple iPhone 13—in a post on X.

Shahrukh describes the whole incident as “a story of hope, patience, and a little bit of luck” in a series of postings.

He stated, “My wife and I went to Jama Masjid for iftar on April 15, 2023. Because it was Ramadan, there were an excessive number of people. We carried three phones: the Redmi K50 Ultra, the Xiaomi Civi 2, and the Apple iPhone 13. I kept all of these phones in my side bag without realizing that something terrible was about to occur.”

Subsequently, he found out that the Xiaomi and iPhone were gone from the tampered-with section of his luggage. “While exiting Jama Masjid gate number 1, I noticed my side bag chain was opened.”

“I discovered that two of my phones had been taken. Both the Xiaomi CIVI 3 and the Apple iPhone 13 vanished quickly,” he said in his article.

Shahrukh tried to alert onlookers by yelling, “I told thieves that my phone was taken.”

He also notified the authorities, who responded by telling him that nothing could be done and that “an announcement was being made for individuals just like you.” However, you people never pay attention.”

He attempted to contact his iPhone number, but it was not in use. Fortunately, however, the Xiaomi Civi 2 was functional.

The phone’s ‘Shutdown Confirmation’ function, which requires a passcode in order to shut down the device, was essential to its recovery.

Shahrukh found the lost phone using the ‘Find My Device’ feature on the Xiaomi website, which showed that the gadget was still within Jama Masjid.

“After selecting “Play Sound,” The Xiaomi CIVI 2’s audio has begun to play. No matter what, the thieves cannot quiet them,” said Shahrukh.

The phone started to ring loudly, and he was making a simultaneous call on that number. At last, a guy by the name of Saurav Srivastav got his call. He requested Shahrukh to pick up his phone close to Jama Masjid gate number two.

“He gave back both of my phones when we first met. Both the Civi 2 and the iPhone 13. The alarm was still going off on Civi 2. He informed me that he had located my phone on the floor. Shahrukh said, “I took my phone, thanked him, and didn’t really question him.

Shahrukh said that the burglars could have adopted to thwart the recovery operations shortly after the phones were found. From the misplaced phones, they might have taken out the SIM card. But fortunately, Shahrukh said with a sigh of relief, “they didn’t.”

Shahrukh expressed his feelings after giving our phones back, stating, “Even though we got our phones back.” That day continues to haunt us. It was really terrifying. We were successful in retrieving it with a little bit of luck, fast thinking, patience, and Allah’s assistance. We would have lost everything if the robbers had been smarter.”

Shahrukh’s post has received over 2 million views on X since it was posted there. Individuals discussed their ideas in the post’s comments area.

Somebody commented on Shahrukh’s article, saying, “I liked the whole thriller, but this last thing must be removed so that thieves remain unaware about this trick.” This viewpoint was shared by someone else who said, “Don’t give ideas to thieves.”
