Bengaluru Man Gets Forcefully Driven From the Airport by a Cab Driver and Gets Reddit Help ‘Live’

Recently, a resident of Bengaluru came to Reddit to share his terrifying experience with a taxi driver who forcedfully removed his baggage and drove him away while pretending to be an Ola driver—the very taxi service the resident had originally booked. The guy turned to the internet community for support during his time of need, and Redditors did not let him down. They ensured his safety by monitoring his circumstances in real time.

The event started when @jewish_cyborg posted a picture of the taxi driver’s back on the “Bangalore” subreddit and went on to describe the terrifying experience. “On my way from airport to home,” he started. Reserved a (one) Ola. I recently had a man carry my baggage and he mentioned he was from Oklahoma. When I instructed him to take the OTP, he moved a little. No, this is a private taxi, he replied. He stated he would drop at the same price when I warned him to stop or I will contact the cops.

The passenger tried to open the door, but the driver would not stop and continued to speed. The user was on a video conversation with family members when he revealed his position and the driver’s face with them out of concern for his safety.

At this point, the passenger posted his position on Reddit, and a nice user called @kartlad started monitoring him and the car, posting real-time information about their locations in the comment area. They started this monitoring at 5:45 p.m. the night before, and by 6:10 p.m., the vehicle had eventually stopped and released the passenger when the latter called 112 and sought help from the Bengaluru police.

Later on, the passenger verified that he was safe, saying that the driver turned himself in when the police got involved, left him off with his stuff, and quickly fled.

The encouraging thing about this occurrence, without a doubt, is that a fellow Redditor’s watchful assistance prevented a possibly fatal catastrophe. The person in question received commendation from the Reddit community for their steadfast aid. The original poster (OP) also expressed his thanks for the collaborative effort.

This episode does, in fact, demonstrate how the internet may provide unanticipated support and assistance at difficult times.
