Employees at Tamil Nadu Tea Estate Receive Royal Enfield Bikes as a Diwali Bonus; the video goes viral

Even though Navratri is over, Diwali, the much anticipated festival of lights, is quickly approaching. Employees earn a Diwali bonus during this period as well, as the whole nation indulges in the holiday fervor. Although most companies give their workers bonuses in the form of cash or gift cards, one firm made news lately for giving its staff a unique incentive. According to the most recent information, a tea plantation in the Nilgiri district’s Kotagiri town has taken a unique approach by giving its staff Royal Enfield motorcycles as a Diwali bonus.

Seems unexpected? P Sivakumar, a resident of Tirupur who was born in Vanajipalayam, owns a 190-acre tea plantation and other gardens, including flower and vegetable plots, close to Kotagiri. For the last 20 years, the tea state has employed around 627 people. Before, during Diwali, Kumar, who has been working on the units for many decades, would give his staff cash incentives and home items. But this year, he made the decision to gift them motorcycles that were worth more than Rs 2 lakh as a way of saying thank you for their assistance.

Fifteen of his staff members, including his manager, supervisor, storekeeper, cashier, field workers, and drivers, received motorcycles as gifts from the 42-year-old guy. In an interview with New Indian Express, Sivakumar discussed how his staff has helped his tea farm flourish. He said, “I wanted to give bikes to the few workers because I had bought them electronic appliances in the past.” A few staff had previously received LCD TVs and an 18% bonus prior to the festival season.

For the sake of the workers’ children who want to enroll them in English-medium schools, the kind real estate owner also assigned two instructors to the Nedugula Panchayat Primary School, which is located close to the estate. There are 320 pupils enrolled at the school, 80 of them are from the estate. The school was almost closed a while ago. In addition, Sivakumar owns a pharmacy where free medications are given to staff members.

Online footage of the freshly bought motorcycles being given to the tea farm workers has also emerged. The estate owner is seen giving the staff motorcycles as a thank you in the video that PTI posted on X, previously known as Twitter.
