In Bikaner, a farmer begins cultivating saffron and sells one kilogram for Rs 4 lakh

Because it is grown during chilly seasons, saffron is regarded as the most costly spice in the world. Only a little amount of it is produced even after a laborious procedure. Remarkably, this crop may be grown in the Bikaner desert by a young Rajasthani guy. Saffron is grown in our nation in areas like Kashmir, which offers a cooler climate for its development. This young guy from Rajasthan, Sunil Jajda, successfully carried out an experiment where he grew this crop in the Bikaner desert.

According to the reports, Sunil used aeroponics to produce saffron in such hot climates. In a chamber, he produced a climate that was 80 percent humid and had a low temperature of 5 degrees Celsius, much like the areas of Kashmir. Sunil planted saffron artificially in a 10-by-18-foot space.

In an exclusive interview with Local18, Sunil said that he conducted research on saffron production throughout the lockdown. He discovered that saffron can grow anywhere thanks to the aeroponics method. He began using this strategy to cultivate saffron in 2020, and he eventually experienced success because of the methodology. According to other reports, they invested around Rs 6 lakh in this strategy, which even generated earnings of Rs 4 lakh. This favorable result encouraged Sunil to carry out further effort.

He claims that instead of having to purchase saffron in order to begin cultivating it, he can now utilize his annual crop of home-grown saffron. In order to keep the humidity and temperature ideal for flower blossoming, the aeroponics built chamber must include UV light. Additionally, there should be two daily temperature changes.

Since farming is Sunil’s hereditary occupation, he first considered combining contemporary and ancient agricultural methods. but found that saffron yields more profits in smaller areas.
