In Spain, three British friends catch the largest wels catfish ever seen

On adventurous journeys, people come with exotic fauna and environments. However, a collection of friends’ photos from a vacation to Spain became popular after being posted online.

Daniel Storey, who traveled to Spain for a vacation with two of his pals, Lewis Pattinson and Martin Irwin, had no clue what would transpire while there. Daniel had plans to go fishing in the Mequinenza region once he arrived in Spain. All three of the pals rented boats and went fishing in the middle of the Segre River. When they tossed their net into the sea, they realized all at once that none of them could pull it because it had become too heavy.

They managed to take out the net after 40 minutes of really hard work, and what they saw astonished them. They unknowingly captured a Wels catfish that weighed around 113.3 kg. A catfish typically weighs between fifty and fifty-five kilograms. They also measure four to five feet in length. The largest catfish has ever been captured by Daniel and his buddies.

When my buddies reacted, Daniel realized it was something exceptional. “I’ve never caught anything close to that big so I didn’t know what it would feel like,” he added. The following day, he said, “people from the village were patting me on the back, and I didn’t even realize how amazing it was.”

“It’s a brilliant catch, and it’s extremely rare – it’s a once-in-a-lifetime event,” said Peter Irwin of Monster Catfishing Tours. “It was their day of luck. They persisted, even though I don’t generally take people fishing on the first day,” he said.

The Wels catfish has a long, grey body with large eyes and a mouth. These critters, which have approximately 2,50,000 taste receptors, are famed for their pursuit of fish and birds.
