In the rain-shortened encounter on Monday, the Rajasthan Royals defeated the Mumbai Indians by nine wickets.

Mumbai was limited to 179-9 thanks to the century-scoring left-handed opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal and the medium-paced spinner Sandeep Sharma, who took 5-18.

Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Hardik Pandya said after the team’s loss that they must own their shortcomings and address them in the days ahead.

All we can do is take what we’ve learned from the game and our errors, make the necessary corrections, and make sure it doesn’t happen again. Progress is crucial. Individually and as a team, we will have to acknowledge our shortcomings and maybe address them,” Pandya, who took over as MI’s captain in lieu of Rohit Sharma, said.

The Mumbai Indians chose to bat first after winning the toss.

The Rajashtan Royals (RR) have won seven of the eight Indian Premier League (IPL) games played so far this season. In 2008, the team won the first IPL.

In the IPL 2024 standings, RR is presently ranked first, while MI is currently ranked seventh.
