“Rs 6,000 Loss”: A man rides in a taxi to his destination after a nine-hour train delay

Overcrowding and train delays are typical during holidays and festivals. But in winter, when vision is reduced owing to fog across northern India, it grows worse. Numerous trains are canceled or delayed. A guy from Kanpur recently posted his agony on X, the previous Twitter, after a nine-hour train delay. He said that in order to make his connecting train from Kanpur to Jhansi, he was forced to hire an interstate cab. He paid ₹ 1,500 for a validated Tatkal ticket, but regrettably, in order to reach his destination on time, he had to pay ₹ 4,500 for the taxi ride.

“The train I was to catch to Kanpur at 1:15 p.m. arrived nine hours late. At 8:15 p.m., I had to catch Rajdhani in Jhansi. Thus, around 2:00 pm, I learned that the train was running late. I am forced to take Ola for ₹ 4,500 since I have no other choice. Additionally, ₹ 1,500 was paid for the Tatkal ticket. Complete loss of ₹ 6,000,” the customer said on X on Wednesday.

A number of individuals also discussed their encounters with delayed trains.

A user said, “My bua traveled to New York more quickly than I did from Delhi to West Bengal (the train is 16 hours late).”

Another person said, “My train is number 12724 Telangana Express – Hyderabad Express, and I’m going there from Nagpur. The train was scheduled to arrive at 7.10 AM in the morning, however it arrived around 3.30 PM. Who is in charge of my lost wages when my train is nine hours late and I have my night duty at eight PM?

In the meanwhile, a user said that even with a verified ticket, he was forced to stand the whole journey. Abhas Kumar Shrivastava detailed the first difficulties he had finding his way to his assigned seat on the packed Rourkela Intercity train in a post. When Mr. Shrivastava arrived at his assigned seat, he saw that it was occupied by a pregnant lady. Instead of asking her to get out of her seat, he chose to stay outside the train entrance for the whole two-hour ride.

“I received a confirmed ticket four days before my reservation. I realized I couldn’t even get to my seat number 64 after figuring out how to board the train,” he stated. “I found a pregnant woman sitting on my seat after an hour, so I just left and stood at the gate for two hours.” I appreciate the wonderful vacation and the guaranteed ticket that will allow me to remain standing the whole time.
