Six Years Into Marriage, Man Discovers Wife Is His Sister
Recently, a man’s life fell apart upon discovering that his six-year-old spouse was really his biological sister. You heard correctly. According to an article in The Mirror, he discovered this information while attempting to save her life by giving one of his kidneys. It is said that his wife became ill after giving birth to their baby and needed a replacement kidney.
After consulting her family, they discovered that none of them qualified to donate blood. Having run out of options, he made the decision to test himself to see whether he met the requirements to become a donor. Being adopted two minutes after his birth, he was a product of a closed adoption, therefore, he never knew who his real parents were. The biological parents and the adopted family don’t communicate directly in a closed adoption.
“I knew it would be a long shot so I decided to get tested to see if I could donate,” he said in an interview with The Mirror. The other day, I received a call informing me that I was a match. Then the doctor said something about needing to perform further testing because of some information from the tissue test results for HLA (human leukocyte antigen). I accepted it without giving it any thought.
When the guy got the results of the tissue test for human leukocyte antigen, it was the most startling moment for him. The findings showed that he and his spouse had a “abnormally high match percentage.” The guy continued, expressing his disbelief and confusion. He clarified that siblings might have a 0-100 percent match in the HLA findings, and parents could have at least a 50% match.
He claims that this occurs as a result of the way that genetic information is transmitted from one generation to the next. At that point, he learned that, according to the HLA findings, he and his spouse are linked to one another via the second case (siblings). A similar individual has also posted similar narratives on Reddit, a social media network. He was told by users not to worry about it since their kids are normal and in good health.
