Memes that instruct users to “look between E and Y on your keyboard” have taken the top trending place on X, as you may have seen if you’ve been browsing through it today. People want to know why this trend has suddenly become so popular on the internet.

In order to figure out the meme’s significance, social media users are asked to scan between certain characters on their keyboard.

According to reports, the meme, which featured a character from the anime series K-On, was first uploaded on 4Chan in May 2021. 4Chan is a basic image-based bulletin board where anybody can make comments and exchange photos anonymously. “Look between T and O on your keyboard” was the meme’s caption, and it went viral fast.

Yui, the character from the anime series, is spelled with the letters Y, U, and I between T and O. Users were urged to look between H and L on their keyboards, which produces the letters J and K, as a consequence of this meme, which started a new trend. The abbreviation for “just kidding” is JK, which gives rise to the meaning and name of the trend.

Why is it now popular?
In April 2024, the memes first made their way to X, where users shared postings about “K-On!” and “My Hero Academia.” The first post followed the pattern of the original 4Chan post that started this trend, however, the subsequent post concentrated on the gap that exists between “U and P on your keyboard.”
