The richest artist in the UK gives her girlfriend a bizarre birthday cake that looks like a womb on her birthday

We expect nothing less than the spectacular when it comes to artists. We want them to provide an extra special enchantment to even the most mundane festivities, such as a birthday party. Damien Hirst, the creative mastermind from the UK, is sure to surpass those anticipations. This time, for his partner Sophie Cannell’s 30th birthday, he created something as amazing in place of a masterpiece that would normally display in a gallery.

Famous for his thought-provoking artwork that often addresses themes of death, riches, and the human condition, Hirst, 58, has made headlines once again. In addition to being the wealthiest living artist in Britain, with an estimated net worth of $384 million (about Rs 3187.2 crores), he is also a master of unusual presents.

When Hirst presented a cake that was not only a culinary delight but also a piece of art in and of itself, the festivities took an amazing turn. The cake was a statement of Hirst’s distinct vision, fashioned like Cannell’s expectant body with minute details of her insides and a sizable unborn child internal.

The cake was a fusion of joy and craftsmanship, inspired by his work The Miraculous Journey, which uses enormous bronze sculptures to illustrate a fetus’s growth in the womb. Blowing candles over a piece of art like that may seem strange to some, but for Damien Hirst, it’s simply another day of pushing limits.

For the occasion, the pair took out for Las Vegas, beginning a new chapter in their love tale that started in a posh restaurant in London where Cannell used to work as a server. Hirst has been quiet since revealing their upcoming fatherhood with a picture of their growing baby bulge in November of last year, choosing to express himself instead via his artwork.

He recently posted NFT artwork that celebrated life’s milestones with a contemporary twist—pregnancy emojis. Having three boys from his previous relationship with Maia Norman, Connor Ojala, Cassius Atticus, and Cyrus Joe, may be his way of embracing the path into parenthood once again.

But Hirst is no stranger to grandiose gestures. He has never shied away from big gestures, from shaping Cannell’s physique for a Mayfair restaurant to giving her an 18-carat gold Rolex Pearlmaster encrusted with 713 jewels for £166,600 (about 1,74,00,000).
