Israel places USD 7.6 million in state coffers with money it took from Hamas for terror

On Thursday, the Bank of Israel received a transfer of 29 million shekels, or USD 7.6 million, that had been taken from Hamas by Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip. The cash, which was located in the strongholds of Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, was found in shekels, dollars, and other Arab currencies. It was also seized from the residences of their agents and associated money changers.

The technology and logistics department’s loot removal squad found and seized the money from the Gaza Strip during the conflict. After that, the funds were sent to the Ministry of Defense’s financial division, which counted them at the army installation Tzrifin, which is close to Rishon LeZion. An armored vehicle took the money and placed it in the Bank of Israel’s coffers after five hours of counting.

With this deposit, the state has received around 12.3 million shekels (46 million shekels) in seized cash. We are now counting more money, which will be deposited at a later time. On October 7, Hamas attacked Israeli villages close to the Gaza border, resulting in at least 1,200 deaths and the kidnapping of 240 Israelis and foreigners. Israel has declared 31 captives out of the remaining 134 to be dead.
