In the midst of a major controversy, Lalu Yadav defends Manoj Jha’s poem “Thakur,” and the RJD demands security for the RS MP

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) spokesperson demanded protection for RJD MP Manoj Jha in a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday. The request for protection follows the response the Rajya Sabha MP has experienced as a result of the “Thakurs” poetry he read last week during a discussion of the Women’s Reservation Bill in the Rajya Sabha.

“The threats made against Manoj Kumar Jha, a member of the Rajya Sabha, are alarming. Raghvendra Pratap Singh, a BJP lawmaker, is one of those who has threatened to slit his throat. An ex-MLA recalled pulling out his tongue and hurling it (in the home) at the chair. Neeraj Singh “Bablu,” a former minister, has likewise expressed threats to chop his tongue. Manoj Jhaji’s life may be in danger as a result of such vehement utterances. The letter said that this had to be under the ministry’s consideration.

Manoj Jhaji is an intelligent, composed, and cultured individual who also won the title of “Best MP” for his intelligence. The government has a responsibility to protect someone with such a unique gift. In order for him to feel secure, you are kindly asked to provide the ‘Y’ grade of security, it said.

Lalu Prasad Yadav, the leader of the RJD, said on Thursday that Manoj Jha is a scholar and that his statements are accurate. The senior leader also said that Manoj Jha had made no negative remarks against Thakur or Rajput.

Political unrest has been caused in Bihar as a result of the poem on “Thakurs” that RJD MP Manoj Jha performed during debate on the Women’s Reservation Bill in the Upper House of Parliament. Several BJP officials have attacked him and denounced the poem.

Chirag Paswan, the leader of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), said, “This is very unjust. Social unrest is being stoked by such utterances. People’s feelings are wounded, and the way that the senior leadership is keeping quiet about the remark lends implicit support to this. We vehemently reject this.

The RJD MP presented the poem as part of his argument for include OBCs in the Women’s Quota Bill.
