JDU doubts the validity of the BJP’s Bihar unit chief’s DLitt degree

Now, the state’s BJP leader Samrat Choudhary’s “so-called DLitt degree” has come under serious scrutiny from the governing JDU. The party threatened to expose Chaudhary if he did not respond to a 72-hour deadline to explain his alleged forgery of a degree.

Neeraj Kumar, the top spokesperson for the JDU, told reporters on Monday that “California Public University USA,” which claimed to have awarded the DLitt degree, no longer exists. The JDU spokesperson said that Choudhary submitted an electoral affidavit to the electoral Commission in 2005, identifying himself as “Rakesh Kumar” s/o Shakuni Choudhary.

However, he signed an affidavit in 2010 under the name Samrat Choudhary alias Rakesh Kumar (son of Shakuni Choudhary). He has written Samrat Choudhary (s/o Shakuni Choudhary) once again in 2020, Kumar informed the media.

Which new institution is this? “When we looked for universities in the USA, we could not locate any with the name of California Public institution in the USA. Neeraj Kumar questioned the BJP state leader: “BJP state chief did not disclose specifics of the degree, registration, roll number, year of enrollment, and marks received for DLitt.

Neeraj Kumar pointed out that he had tried to find his marksheet on the internet but had been unable when displaying a copy of EC’s affidavits. California Public University, according to Choudhary, is no longer in existence. “We have heard of institutions like Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, and California, but we have not heard of any such university with the moniker “California Public University,” he stated.

Investigations showed that Choudhary’s affidavit (dated 24/06/2020) only cited his “highest educational qualification Doctor of Litt California Public University USA and Madurai Kamaraj University,” with no indication of the date, year of completion, or other information about his degree.

Since March 24, 2023, Samrat Choudhary has served as the BJP’s state unit president in Bihar. He is of the Koeri caste and is the longtime OBC spokesperson for the BJP. He is from the Kushwaha tribe. During the RJD/JDU administration, he continued to serve as a minister and member of the Bihar legislature. He is a member of the Upper House at the moment.

Choudhary, who is 55 years old, is a member of a political family. His mother Parvati Devi and father Shakuni Choudhary both held elected office.

The Munger district’s Tarapur block has Lakhanpur, the ancestral hamlet of Choudhary.
